Overall, Belarusian roads are of good quality. They are generally praised. However, not all the roads marked on the map as “a road with improved coverage” will be asphalted. By the color of the road on the map it could be difficult to tell what type of coverage it has. Some roads may have a sand cover which would be difficult for cycling.
Cycling on the M1 (Brest-Moscow) is prohibited.
We do not recommend cycling on the roads marked as Class M (especially on the roads M2-M6, and the Minsk ring road M9). As a rule, they have a wide shoulder, but the speed and the traffic flow is too high.
The roads through the fields and indicated as “unpaved roads” could be shoveled.
